Dear President Obama,
Since you're all about "change," you might like to know that I'm glad I could change doctors last week. Thursday I went to the walk-in clinic with an ear infection. They barely looked in my ears and then gave me allergy medicine (mind you, my primary reason for going was an earache, which was pretty much ignored by the physician). Then on Friday, I went to a different doctor, my semi-regular doctor. I did, indeed, have an ear infection and no need for the prescriptions the previous doctor prescribed. I received medication that actually worked.
Many people in the United States have health issues that are much more serious than an ear infection. If a doctor neglected to diagnose an ear infection (an obvious one at that -- the nurse at the second doctor's office could tell right away), then doesn't it make sense that they would do the same with serious, life-threatening diseases? And that people should have the freedom and responsibility to choose their doctors and whether or not to get a second opinion? Oh, that's right. When dealing with politics, it doesn't seem to matter what makes sense.
Socialized medicine? No thanks. I'd rather work to pay the doctor's bill/insurance cost than everyone getting rotten treatment.
Very Sincerely,
Barbara
